[edit] Mormon Missionary

Welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your recent edit to the discussion page for Mormon missionary. This is a fairly recent article, an offshoot of Missionary. Our decision to go with Mormon missionary as a title was primarily driven by a Google search. It indicated, almost overwhelmingly, that most web users looking for information use that term. It may not be "politically correct," as you pointed out, or even in line with the naming conventions the LDS group here have established, but it is likely the first phrase the encyclopedia's users would type in. Over time, this might change.

We appreciate and welcome new editors, of any background, on articles relating the the Latter Day Saint Tradition. The LDS Users group here (see Wikipedia:WikiProject Latter Day Saint movement) is fairly active and endeavors to discuss material, opinions and changes in an effort to come to a group concensus. Please look around at the LDS articles -- and their talk pages -- and feel free to jump in. Contact me on my talk page if I can provide any clarification. Look forward to working with you. I saw the Google results, but that doesn't change my opinion. Why can't Mormon missionary redirect to LDS missionary? People who were unfamiliar with LDS terminology could still type in Mormon instead of LDS and still be redirected to the right article. By terming it LDS, it isn't making it any harder to find, and it makes it consistant with the other Latter-day Saint articles. Antley 04:19, 21 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject LDS

Hello! I noticed you were on the list of members in the LDS WikiProject, and I was wondering if you were still interested in helping out there. You see, over the past few months, it appears that it has slowly drifted into inactivity. But you CAN help. Please consider doing both of the following:

  1. Take ONE thing form the To-Do list and do it. Once you're done with it, remove it from the list, and from the<>{{Template:LDSprojectbox}}<>, so we know its done. Keep the page on your watchlist. We have a backlog going for more than half a year. Please help to work on it, and remove it.
  2. Vote on the LDSCOTF, and work on it!
  3. Tell your friends (esp. LDS friends, & esp. Wikipedian friends) about this WikiProject, and enocourage them to join (and be active).

Remember: your involvement in this WikiProject is just that - involvement! Please help us out.

(Note: I'm sending this out to everyone who's name was on the membership list, so I will NOT be watching this page for a response. If you want to contact me, do it on MY talk page, please.)

Thanks for all that you do -Trevdna 15:51, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Request for edit summary

Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 9% for major edits and 0% for minor edits. (Based on the last 102 major and 10 minor edits in the article namespace.)

This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 23:31, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Romney's Presidential Campaign

Antley, I noticed you had mentioned on the Romney political campaign you thought the article contained too many criticisms and said you were thinking of adding an NPOV tag. I contributed to the discussion there, but I think you're right (which is scary, given that I don't like Romney). Anyway, far as I'm concerned, feel free to add the tag. Nobody else seems to have contributed to the discussion yet. croll 15:16, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Alrighty then. Joseph Antley 17:02, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for fixing my ANWR error on Political positions of Mitt Romney. As you can see, I made a number of copyedits. I guess I didn't check them all carefully enough. Regards, Ground Zero | t 02:30, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Persecution of Christians

The reason I reverted it was a couple reasons. The 'hundreds of men line' unless you have an exact number or good estimate with a source saying a plain mob is 'safer' for being asked for cites. Also the last sentence saying "left the United States on a massive exodus to Utah, which, at the time, was not a part of Mexico. " Mexico? The statement "persecuted even before the original Church's founding in 1830." even the last edit without citation it makes some sense but before it was founded? Thanks for your time. --Xiahou 01:38, 1 August 2007 (UTC) re:Pov? your additions added details but the edit before was POV? using that logic you added detail to pov? Seemed bland and to the point just needed more details. Hardly pov.--Xiahou 01:51, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

I guess I just viewed it as bland Npov. I guess we chalk that up to "to each his own"--Xiahou 02:04, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Note: Sarah Elizabeth Lindsey is the first wife of Presidential candidate Fred Thompson. It appears highly suspicious that she would suddenly become un-notable at the same time her ex-husband and new wife become notable. The mark for speedy removal should be rescinded. Any quick Google search of Sarah Elizabeth Lindsey will show there is little to no information on her, and that cannot be any accident. In fact, I cannot yet find any current photo or information about Ms. Lindsey other than that Fred Thompson asserts that she will endorse his candidacy for the presidency. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.197.187.25 (talk) 08:29, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notability of Sarah Elizabeth Lindsey

A tag has been placed on Sarah Elizabeth Lindsey, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NeilN 22:52, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mitt Romney whitewashing

What part of my article entry that you removed contained POV statements? Removing contextual information relating to the large monetary contribution of Mr. Romney's campaign amounts to whitewashing. If you don't think straw poll details should be featured in the article then remove the other details and link to the straw poll article.GrEp 22:45, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WP:POV in size of Giuliani infobox

Take a look at Rudy Giuliani presidential campaign, 2008. The infobox is giant in comparison to the infoboxes of other candidates. I think that this huge size is blatant WP:POV. This should be brought to the attention of wiki admins. Do you know how to reduce the size of the box? Dogru144 06:14, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure that infobox is the right term, but look at the Giuliani campaign article. I'm sure you'll know what I mean. Dogru144 06:42, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Plurality of gods

On July 25, 2007 you made an edit linked here that ends with the phrase "In the King Follett Discourse, a sermon given by Joseph Smith a few months before his death," (including the comma at the end of the phrase). It appears that you stopped in midsentence, abandoned the edit, and never fixed it. I hope that you, as the author, will fix this edit. Otherwise the section needs to be deleted. Thank you.
