Saw Anthony Gomes at London Bluesfest and then at a club afterwards. Was amazed at the energy and talent of both him and his band. One of the most entertaining musical acts I have ever seen. He combines blues, r&b, and gospel into this whirlwind of sound that truely is exciting to watch and listen to. His band is tight and features Biscuit Miller on base who is one of the best I've seen. His "Unity" cd which I have now listened to a few times does not match the live performance. There are some really outstanding pieces such as "Darkest Before the Dawn" and "Going Down Slow" and "Upside" but some tracks are a little preachy and naive in content, and at times the lyrics are predictable. A band that is definately worth checking out and I can imagine will only become better and more refined in the future.
