Is the name Niittymäki or Niittymaki? mäki sounds like it would be the real one but I'm not sure. If it is, then we'd need to rename the article, right? --HJV 21:03, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

That's been the source of much debate actually. My stance: its Niittymaki in ENGLISH. Check WP:HOCKEY discussions for further info. ccwaters 21:59, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
The name of this article should be Antero Niittymäki, but after that it could be typed as Niittymaki. Lapinmies 13:07, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
This article was MOVED from Antero Niittymäki for no reason other than the ä. If so many people think it should be at the ä version that there is a discussion on the page about it, maybe it should be moved back...? PS his jersey in the Olympics has the ä, and I am watching him play right now. ;) Hazelorb 20:35, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
It says "Suomi" on the front and he's playing against a team with "Росси́я" printed on their jerseys. What's your point? ccwaters 21:07, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
Agreed, I'm pretty sure those jerseys were issued by Finnish-speaking Finland, not English-speaking NHL (although if you are a Habs fan it would be technical to say part-French). Anywho, it doesn't matter because Mr. Sundin will give this Niitymaki a schooling anyways on Sunday. Oy, Olympic hockey this year has been dull... I want my NHL back. I'm glad the page was finally moved back to the correct Finnish spelling, Niittymäki. The custom in English Wikipedia is to render ethnic names in the original -- witness all the Polish football player pages and such. The English version should be then added as a redirect page, which was done here. -- Mareklug talk 11:28, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
