RE: The 4.7 inch (120 mm.) U.S.Army Mobile AAA guns used in 1943-45 Asia/Pacific theater. To help identify: the guns used two piece ammo. A projectile weighing aprox. fifty lbs. and brass cartridge aprox. ten inches in dia. at the breech end, and aprox. three feet long. Ammo was put into a loading tray, the gunner pulled the firing lever, a ram pushed both into the open breech, the verticle sliding breech block closed and the gun fird immediately.

I served as gunner on one with the 516th. AAA gun bn. and would love to have information about obtaining a good clear photo of a gun as decribed above, hopefully set up in a position to fire

I have learned that the guns were made by The Fisher Body Corp. Weighing thirty tons, they really were "Stratosphere Guns" We used ammo with a proxminity fuse and it sure did a good job. I'll check this site often, hoping to find some info. Thank you. John H. Hopkins 114 Paradise Lane Auburndale, FL. 33823
