Antun Vujić

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Antun Vujić is a Croatian politician and former Minister of Culture (2000-2003).

In 1990 Antun Vujić was among the founders and of Social Democrats of Croatia (SDH), party whom he would lead.

Although bitterly opposed to centre-left Social Democratic Party of Croatia of Ivica Račan, Vujić had distinction of being among very few Croatian politicians to advocate left-wing policies in early 1990s. During the campaign 1992 presidential elections he was the only one to call for decriminalisation of marijuana.

However, as a presidential candidate he fared very badly, just as his party fared badly on 1992 parliamentary elections.

Two years later, he and his party patched differences with Račan and formally joined SDP.

From 2000 to 2003 Vujić was minister of culture in Ivica Račan's cabinet.

He led a project of national encyclopedia from 2005-2007 with 20 books(A-Z).
