Antun Augustinčić

Antun Augustinčić (19001979) was a prominent Croatian sculptor of monuments. He is remembered for the Monument of Peace standing in front of the United Nations building in New York, where his mentor and Croatian compatriot Ivan Meštrović had achieved great successes as sculptor.

Augustinčić attended the College of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb and later L'Ecole des Arts decoratifs and to L'Academie des Beaux-Arts in Paris.

During the Independent State of Croatia Augustinčić sculpted a bust of Croatian leader Ante Pavelić.[1]
