Antsokiyana Gemza

Antsokiyana Gemza is one of the 105 woredas in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Semien Shewa Zone, Antsokiyana Gemza is bordered on the south by Efratana Gidim, on the west by Geshe Rabel, and on the north and east by the Oromia Region. The administrative center of this woreda is Mekoy; other towns in Antsokiyana Gemza include Majete.

Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 102,767, of whom 51,599 were males and 51,168 were females; 17,331 or 16.86% of its population are urban dwellers, which is greater than the Zone average of 11.8%. With an estimated area of 386.1 square kilometers, Antsokiyana Gemza has an estimated population density of 266.2 people per square kilometer, which is greater than the Zone average of 134.37.[1]
