Antonio Vidal Fernández

Antonio Vidal Fernández was born in Havana, Cuba, on February 20, 1928. He develops the Painting, Drawing, Engraving, graphic Design, Sculpture. Between 1953-1955 he was Member of the Grupo "Los Once", Havana, Cuba. In 1962 he was Founder Member of the Taller Experimental de Gráfica de La Habana (TEG), Havana, Cuba.

Among his must relevant personal exhibitions we can quote Antonio Vidal: tintas in Galería de La Habana, Havana, Cuba, 1967. In 1991 he exhibited his works Antonio Vidal. Pinturas, in Galería La Acacia, Havana, Cuba. In this year he presented also Antonio Vidal. Pinturas, in the Galería Alfama, Zaragoza, Spain. And in 1993 he made Antonio Vidal 40 años en la Plástica. Pinturas y Dibujos de pequeño Formato in the Galería de Arte Galiano y Concordia, Havana, Cuba.

He was part of many collective exhibitions, among them we can mention in 1954 Contemporary Cuban Group in Galería Sudamericana, New York, U.S.A. In 1963 he was one of the selected artists to conform 1913-1963 Cincuentenario del Museo Nacional, in the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Havana, Cuba. In 1966 he was part of the Ínternational Print Biennale Cracow 1966. Krakow, Poland. In this year he also participated in the 5th International Print Biennial. Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, Japan. In 1984 he was included in Por la Libertad y la Amnistía total, in the Centro Cultural del Conde Duque, Madrid, Spain. And in 1997 he was one of the selected artists for Pinturas del Silencio, in Galería La Acacia, Havana, Cuba.

During his life he has been awarded with several distinctions, among them we can mention the most relevant: in 1999 he was recognized with the Award. Premio Nacional de Artes Plásticas. Ministry of Culture, Cuba.

In Cuba his works formed part of the important collections of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de La Habana.
