Antoine Waechter is a French politician, leader of the Independent Ecological Movement, born on February 11, 1949 in Mulhouse (Haut-Rhin).
Green candidate in the 1988 presidential election, he obtained 3.78%. In 1994, however, he split from the Greens to found the centrist Independent Ecological Movement. Since then, he has failed to regain his political prominence. He did not win enough endorsements to be the MEI candidate in the 1995, 2002, or 2007 presidential elections.
