Antoine Berman's "trials of the foreign", which originates from German Romanticism, tries to show the "deforming tendencies" inherent in ant act of translation. Lawrence Venuti, the American translation theorist, uses Berman's concepts to write a genelaogy of translation in the Anglo-American context to introduce the "foriegnizing" strategy that is ignored in translation.
