Antiphona is a Venezuelan vocal group, constituted by 20 singers, founded in 1995. From the moment itself of its foundation, Coral Antiphona has been promoting in Latin American and European scenarios the choral repertoire of all times: from Renaissance to romanticism, from baroc to contemporary music.

Coral Antiphona is born in the Orquesta Sinfónica del Zulia, in Venezuela, in 1995.

It has been founded by Maestro Juan Belmonte, former conductor of the Orchestra, with the purpose of having a stable group for the symphonic choral repertoire. Nowadays Coral Antiphona is an independent Civil Association of culture promotion.

Its Titular Conductor is Maestro Juan Carlos Bersague. Together with him, in the staff, there are the Associated Conductor, maestro Franklin Pire; the vocal technics professor, maestra Linda Marín Carpio; and the Venezuelan music strumentist, maestro Wilmer Pelayo.

Coral Antiphona has performed in several scenarios in Colombia, Cuba, Italy, Mexico Spain (including Basque Country and Catalonia) and Venezuela.

[edit] Juan Carlos Bersague Chacón

Juan Carlos Bersague Chacón is born at La Habana, Cuba. He took a degree in Choral Conducting at the renomed 'Escuela Nacional de Instructores de Arte (National Academy of Arts Instructors) and at the Centro Nacional de la Enseñanza Artística (National Center for Artistic Teaching), both in La Habana, with the maestros Mayda Martínez and María Felicia Pérez.

He has been one of the founder members of the famous cuban choral group EXAUDI, conducted by Maestra María Felicia Pérez. With EXAUDI, he has performed in Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Hungary and Venezuela. In Venezuela, he conducted the Children's Choir Niños Cantores del Zulia of Maracaibo, Venezuela, from 1994 to 2005. Nowadays he works as a coordinator in the Vocal Area at the Faculty of Arts and Music of the Universidad Católica Cecilio Acosta, in Maracaibo. Moreover, he teaches Choral Conducting at the Experimental Faculty of Arts [FEDA] of the Universidad del Zulia and conducts the Academical Choir at the Conservatory of Music “José Luis Paz” in Maracaibo, where he also teaches Choral Practic from 1997.
