Anting (Chinese: 安亭; pinyin: Āntíng) is a town in Shanghai, People's Republic of China. Pronounced An'ting, the placename means "The Pavilion of Peace". Anting is located in the Jiading District (嘉定区) of Shanghai, on the border of the neighboring province of Jiangsu. It has 52,800 inhabitants and an area of 59.75 km².

Anting is one of the centers of the Chinese automobile industry; it is home to the joint German/Chinese venture, Shanghai Volkswagen. This enterprise has the largest market share of passenger cars in China.

The Shanghai International Circuit, China's first Formula One race track, is located near the city.

In the southern part of the city, an extension of "Anting Auto City" called "Anting New Town" (安亭新镇) is being built in the fashion of "Anting German Town" (安亭德国镇).

the first phase of AnTing new town construction will completed around June 2007 and the second phase is planned to start before the end of 2007 and the duration is about three years. after the whole project is done, a lovely and quiet town will be a modern community of more than 50,000 people. But there is also a possibility of delaying phase 2 project in Anting New Town due to the financial reasons and poor sales.

A subway line is currently being built through the city which will connect the Auto City to the Shanghai metropolitan area.
