Pezzullo was a member of the "Lucchese Construction Group". Headed by mobstersSteven Crea, Dominic Truscello, and Joseph Tangorra, the Construction Group was involved in bid rigging, extorting construction companies, and corrupting union locals. The rate for union workers, including benefits, was $47.36 per hour.
In 2000, Pezzullo was indicted for labor racketeering and enterprise corruption. In September 2003, Pezzullo was released from prison.
