[edit] Controversy

Hargrove missed two straight practices without receiving team permission prior to the leave of absence. He was fined $40,000.[citation needed]

On August 5, 2007, Hargrove was among hundreds of people charged with several misdemeanors after a confrontation with police outside a nightclub. He was charged with harassment, resisting arrest and criminal mischief. His brother, Terrence Hargrove, was also among those charged. Hargrove was sent to the Monroe County Jail on $1,100 bail, and released on bail Sunday afternoon.

On August 11, 2007, Hargrove was suspended by the NFL for the first 4 games of the regular season for breaking the NFL's substance abuse policy [2][3]

It was reported on January 18, 2008 that Hargrove had failed a drug test again. Due to the NFL's substance abuse policy, because he had failed another drug test and received a four-game suspension within the previous two years, it is likely that this offense will result in a one-year suspension. This was confirmed on January 24th, 2008. [4]

He has played in the NFL for four years.
