Anthony Beale

Anthony Beale (born October 22, 1967) is an American politician. He is an alderman of the 9th ward in Chicago, Illinois. Elected in 1999, Beale is currently serving his second term.

Beale served as the president of the 100th Street of Prairie Block Club and vice president of the United Block Club of Roseland. http://www.ward09.com/site/epage/5093_292.htm Currently, he is a member of the Rosemoor Community Association, the 5th District Advisory Committee, Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, the NAACP, CAPS, and Roseland Redevelopment Ad-Hoc Committee.

[edit] Aldermanic career

Beale was elected to his first term in 1999, and his second term in 2003. As alderman, Beale was instrumental in banning liquor sales in the 9th ward, and he participated in many community marches against violence, crime, and drugs. He created the 9th Ward Business Advisory Board; all new business in the ward must go before the board for approval. He has also revitalized Roseland Little League, which has 400 participating children. Also, Beale works to secure smoke detectors in the homes of all school children by promoting a program with the Chicago Fire Department which gives out free smoke detectors. Beale is the Vice Chairman of the Committee on Historic Landmarks and Preservation. Beale serves on seven additional committees: Finance; Education; Transportation and the Public Way, Buildings; Committees, Rules, and Ethics; Special Events and Cultural Affairs; and Energy, Environmental Protection, and Public Utilities.

Alderman Beale lives in the Roseland community with his wife, Dana, and their three children. Beale attends Salem Baptist Church.
