Antheias Street

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Antheia Street or Anthia Street (Greek: Odos Antheias), is Patras' major street running two ways entirely from Akti Dymaion to Chalkidon Street. Its total length is approximately 1.5 kilometers. The street contains two lanes with two parking spaces. Residential buildings with modern architecture cover the southern and the central parts, and shops as well as stores and other such buildings are found sporadically in the street. The northern part from the railway crossing to Akti Dymaion has a factory on the south side and the Veropoulos supermarket on the north side. The street also features a convenience store.

[edit] History

The street was first paved in the 1970s and modern buildings arrived in the 1970s and the 1980s, expanding the Patras' urban area. Also, a traffic light was added by Akti Dymaion in the west end.
