In ancient Babylonian mythology, Ansar is a sky god. This may be the origin of the name of the military and Islamic uses of the term Ansar, though that origin is not recognised by Muslims. The symbol, "Dingir", was the same as that for heaven and for divinity showing his high but not superior role. He was generally regarded as the child of Uras, or of Ansar and Kisar. In an "evolutionary" principle for the "gods," he was a product of the "embryo" heaven-earth before the world became visible.
