Anomalous Disturbances is the musical pseudonym of Canadian Terrence (Terry) O'Brien. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, O'Brien is a guitarist, composer and producer who is active in the genres of ambient music and electronica. He utilizes the technique of "live looping" his guitar via an updated digital version of the "time lag accumulator" system originated by minimalist composer Terry Riley and employed by Robert Fripp and Brian Eno and others. The result is dronelike yet melodic. The music of Anomalous Disturbances has been released on solo CDs, and also in other formats (compilation CDs, television). O'Brien is also active in live performance, primarily in his native Canada.
