Anna Mukhamedova

Anna Mukhamedova was the Acting General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Turkmen SSR immediately following Yakov Popok's resignation due to ill health on 15 April 1937. She served as the sixth General Secretary and the only woman to ever hold that position throughout its existence from 1924 to 1991.

Her term lasted two days until, on 17 April, Joseph Stalin selected Yakov Chubin to succeed Popok.
