Ankur Tewari

Ankur Tewari is a director, writer and musician. Born into a family of engineers and teachers, Ankur Tewari decided to do hotel management and graduated from IHM Bhopal. Almost immediately, he switched to music and theatre.

His ‘break’ came with Col. Kapoor as a songwriter/ musician for his TV series Ek aur Fauji. He was Art Director for the TV series Rajdhani (star plus) produced by Bobby Bedi. He also worked with Shekhar Kapur’s Digital Talkies as a Producer where he curated India’s first International Digital Video Film Festival. He was the executive producer for India’s first Digital Video Feature, Pankaj Advani’s, Urf Professor. He also did sound for Award winning documentary My Friend Su that won laurels at Yamagata International Documentary film Festival, Japan.

He produced Game that was the closing film in the Commonwealth International film festival in Manchester, UK. His camerawork on Touch the sky, a short film on the ‘Dahi Handi’ festival, was awarded the commonwealth vision award (2002). He has directed music videos for artists like Kailash Kher, Sona Family and Yana Gupta among others. His music video to the UK chartbuster song Kangana for Dr. Zeus was nominated in the British Asian Music Awards in the best video category.

His debut feature film as a director, Let’s Enjoy, released on the first of October 2004. Since then he has scripted movie screenplays for UTV (Game on), TIPS (Charles) and Vishesh Films (Rain). He is involved in the pre-production of his next feature, ‘Subah ho gayi mamu’. He is releasing his debut music record, ‘Hum’, with HOM records in the months to follow.
