[edit] History
Ankla was formed in 2001 by former Puya guitarist Ramón Ortiz, in his desire to break away from his previous band's nu metal style.[1] The band independently released a self titled 7-track EP in 2002, produced by Stone Sour drummer Roy Mayorga.
On April 8, 2006, it was announced that the band had signed with Bieler Bros. Records.[2] Their debut album Steep Trails was produced by Bob Marlette, and was released on July 25, 2006, selling 400 copies during its first week of release.[3]
On August 19, 2006, bassist Edgar Gonzalez suffered a seizure after the band's set in Mokena, Illinois.[4] The band later parted ways with Gonzalez due to his health concerns. Ortíz later announced that J.P. Soars (formerly of Divine Empire and Malevolent Creation) would take over bass duties full time.[5]
On March 21, 2007, it was confirmed that Ankla were to be part of the 2007 Ozzfest tour as a second stage act.

THE MUSICAL CHEMISTRY BETWEEN EDDIE AND RAMON IS UNDENIABLE AS THE UPCOMING ALBUM WILL PROVE . WE’LL KEEP YOU ALL POSTED AS EVENTS KEEP UNFOLDING. GOD BLESS YOU ALL! ANKLA
