Anke Vandermeersch

Anke Vandermeersch (born Antwerp, October 27, 1972) is a Flemish politician and former beauty queen.

Vandermeersch rose to attention in Belgium during a modelling career, becoming Miss Belgium in 1991 and representing her country at Miss World. She competed in Miss Universe in 1992, making the final six but losing in the final to Michelle McLean of Namibia

Vandermeersch has dabbled in politics, expressing support for several parties, finally showing her commitment to the Vlaams Blok (now Vlaams Belang), becoming a directly elected Belgian senator in 2003. Initially, she promised to pose nude for Playboy magazine if she were to be elected, at that time still as a candidate for the VLD, but it was not to be that year.

She is married to a Luxembourgian and trained as a lawyer.
