Main Page edit

I don't understand your edit to the main page. What is the point of replacing the characters with HTML entities? This is the exact opposite of what we normally do. --- RockMFR 02:00, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

I don't think any modern browser would have trouble displaying the characters in the textarea box. If a browser could not display those characters, editing the main page would be the least of that editor's worries :) --- RockMFR 02:10, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

What has the world come to?

This is a good faith, relevant, completely sourced and verifiable edit. Why are you trying to censer Wikipedia? Donny417 20:23, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Check Talk:Arabian horse for the previous discussion, as well as on the Talk:Horse page.Ealdgyth | Talk 20:25, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
You're primary "argument" for not including it into the Arabian article, was it didn't have anything to do with "Arabians" (although that is not true). So I gave in, and compromised, and instead think the "GENERAL" information about the species is the perfect place to include it. If something is relevant, sourced, and reliable, then why not include it in a logical way? Why do you insist on having your 'opinion' dictate the content of the article? Donny417 20:29, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
What do you mean by WP:PLB nightmare? Donny417 20:30, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Thank you! Now that actually makes sense. I was unaware of the conflict with personal bio's (although he is dead, I see there is still a conflict). If this would have been brought to my attention earlier, it would have saved me a lot of time :( I do appericate the info though! I'll see if I can figure out a good way to make the necessary info not violate WP:BLP. Donny417 20:37, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Thank you again for your help [1], I was wondering about the BLP vio sense he isn't exactly alive! And I apologize for accusing you of trying to censor me. I will take a look at how I worded the information, and try to find a new verifiable section. Just an FYI to everyone monitoring, this entire thing came up in my Human Physiology class about a week ago. However, it is original research from a classmate, so it can not be used. I will try to find a credible source and reword my inclusion... Donny417 21:00, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Closing Script

Hello Magnus animum, I saw your Motd closing script for closing mottos, and I was wondering how to use it, after I install it in my monobook.js file (if thats where I put it). Can you clarify this issue.--Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions) 02:12, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

A few questions

1) How can I start a new catagory?

A: Category:NAME OF THE CATEGORY

2) How can I start a new Project?

A: Wikiproject? Go ahead and make one if you think it's needed.

3) how can I build a new infobox?

A: Ask this guy.

Closing script again

Sorry to bother you again, but i beleive that the motd closing script that you told me to use, doesn't work or perhaps doesn't work on IE. Any suggestions? --Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions) 22:56, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

I tried purging, but i still dont see anything different on the Motd/n page or on the edit veiw.--Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions) 23:03, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
What added tab (sorry about my ignorance)?--Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions) 23:08, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Actually i should ask where?--Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions) 23:11, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
I dont see anything that looks like an added tab, either that or i just dont know when i see one.--Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions) 23:19, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Okay, thanks for the help. I'll just do it the old fashioned way. Sorry for bothering you. By the way, when you said "get firefox" was that from User:Magnus animum/IE. lol, where did you get that idea from (Informal Speech used)? Well thanks again.--Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions) 23:25, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Unblock denial of User:71.107.191.119

I've seen plenty of cases where the user wasn't blocked for a 3RR violation because they had not yet been warned -- after all, the 3RR noticeboard requires a diff of the 3RR warning, so why is this case different? We've gotten him to stop and listen, and he knows he would be violating a rule now. His edits look to me like one of a good faith editor with a misunderstanding of policy... I would think that he should be warned, and blocked on the next revert, if he makes one. But I could be completely wrong, I'm not an admin -- please explain. Thanks! Javascript help

Hey. I saw User:Animum/reset.js and would like to use a modified copy to add something like this to user talk pages with just one click. I understand

if( wgPageName == "Wikipedia:Sandbox" && wgAction == "edit" )

but I'd like for the script to produce a tab whenever any page that's in the user talk space is being edited, not just when a specific page is edited. Is there a way to do this? WODUP 05:02, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

More vandalism . . .

An anonymous user you blocked back in June is at it again. I don't think they ever stopped according to the latest contributions I've seen. 205.132.76.4 is the user and they recently vandalized the Three Dog Night page. If you are an admin, please block them for 100 years + a day like the judges do to make sure they do the full sentence. ;-) Wikipedia needs to wise up, require signing in and block anonymous users. Please leave reply at my user talk page.--Bamadude 02:34, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Sorro CopyVio

You have to scroll down to 6:00 pm listing (about halfway down). The Sorro business is in the second half of that paragraph. There it is "... every blow you strike will be returned. The goal of the game is to prove your courage by not showing any pain. Banned because of its violence, the practice was recently reintroduced as it is a strong tradition that marks the passage into manhood."

Addiction Foods

Thanks for the heads up on sandbox creation. I've only used my sandbox to create article before I post them. Had no idea about having to keep all sandboxes under a specific user. So thanks for that info. Noles1984 19:39, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of Rock Paper Scissors variations

If you're going to close the deletion discussion after 22 minutes, you should be giving a very good explanation in the closing comments, otherwise it would appear to have been done outside of policy. I doubt I'll be the only editor wondering about this. Please provide it. Thanks. Noroton 21:26, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

No, no, I don't think you were abrasive at all. I think the way you did it -- no explanation in the closing comment and only 20 minutes after it was nominated -- will just arouse a lot of suspicion and probably be overturned. And no one gets to see the article now that the deletion's been closed, so it's not possible for more people to review it. I think a WP:SNOW justification is the only one ever used for early closing of an article that doesn't attack a living person, but I've never seen one this early. I don't have any reason to doubt your motives and I'd very likely agree with the outcome, but such an early closing raises fairness issues. Please consider reversing your closing. Noroton 21:55, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
It's up to you. I won't contest it because I find it difficult to believe you weren't acting in good faith, but I expect it will be contested. I do urge you to provide reasoning in the closing comment section. If someone is interested enough and if that someone can find some adequate sources (OK, big "if"s), then you might be strongly criticized. Just friendly advice. Noroton 22:07, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Hey Animum. I see you've taking care of a lot of prod deletions, which is great. I just wanted to drop you a note to remind you that it's usually a good idea to delete the talk page as well - WP:CSD#G8. Keep up the good work.--Kubigula (talk) 04:20, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

External links at smoking

Thank you for protecting the article. However, could you restore the External links and See also-section to the version before Naacats used it as a way to promote his own organization and the marginal article Smokers Rights?

Account Creation Blocked for Alyansa ng Kabataang Mindanao para sa Kapayapaan?

According to google, that user is named after some sort of organization, and while group accounts are of course forbidden, I can't see why you would check Account Creation Blocked for a username created in good faith. Unless of course I'm missing something, I didn't actually research what sort of organization it was, only a quick Google search when I saw it on UAA.--VectorPotentialTalk 19:49, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

Ned Scott

Just a headsup that User:Ned Scott is asking for an unblock. Can you point to some specific examples of why he was blocked? I see him walking the line pretty closely, but a diff would be helpful in evaluating the unblock request. Thanks! - Philippe | Talk 03:21, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

I just happened to see this and I believe Animum is probably offline right now and may not be back until the block is about to expire, so another admin is going to have to go through the diffs. (I had some interaction with the blocked user earlier, so it won't be me.) Newyorkbrad 03:25, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
Looks like WJBscribe got it taken care of, so no worries... it's handled. Thanks to both of you. - Philippe | Talk 03:34, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

My judgment in this is probably not the most impartial, but I just don't see how this block was preventative rather than punitive in nature, after more than 12 hours had passed since the last of the arguably precarious diffs. However, please don't overlook that White Cat also contributed his bit to not deescalating the situation.[2] — aldebaer 19:11, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

Unprotection of smoking

I'm supposed to be busy studying, and I won't edit the article myself for a few days, but the current protection is certainly no longer merited nor needed. Could you unlock the article so others can work on it? Naacats, the only person claiming the article was biased has been blocked indefinitely due to persistent POV pushing, refusal to follow a wide range of policies and because his user name was an obvious endorsement of his own organization. There is a discussion leading to the decision here. The support for having him blocked from editing smoking-related articles was completely unanimous.
