The Waylon Jennings vandal
I've blocked User:142.68.206.30 for a week, and semi-protected Waylon Jennings for a month, since there are a couple of other IPs associated with vandalism of that page. Maybe they'll get distracted by a butterfly during that time. Joyous! | Talk 00:35, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

The Clown (album)
I'm wondering if this shouldn't be moved back to The Clown, since clearly the character from Camp Blood is not a significant enough usage of "The Clown" to warrant even a disambiguation page. Wareh (talk) 18:54, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

hello, Animum! I have seen the box "A Status Bot says I am: Online" at your userpage... I would like something like that, too... So I added Category:Wikipedians who use StatusBot to my userpage. Count
Does your count.js work? Because I don't get anything... is a new tab supposed to appear near watch etc. with the name 'edit count'? -- Mentifisto 09:00, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

- Ermmmm, Animum dear, would you mind rolling it back? lol. For some reason, when you changed it to open in a new tab, now it isn't using Kate's, it is using mediawiki or something. Odd. Sorry! Ariel♥Gold 06:44, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Am I doing something wrong? How can I get it to go back to Kate's, lol. Ariel♥Gold 21:17, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
- Animum not surprised. :-D :-P All jokes aside, the toolserver has broken again, so it's back to query.php for the most part. The link above is a differently-formatted version of the default query.php output in a more easily readable (in my opinion, at least) format. If you really want to use the wannabe_kate tool, however, replace importScript("User:Animum/count.js") with the following.

- What's it mean, "toolserver has broken"? Don't a lot of bots run from the toolserver? I realize that Kate's sometimes goes down for short periods of time, but it is normally back up within a few hours, right? Is Kate's running from toolserver? What happens to bots that are running from there, if toolserver goes boom? lol. Yeah I guess I could hop on IRC and ask you these silly questions instead of filling up your talk page, but I actually have to do some non-wiki "work" (~*gasp*~) today, and if I go on IRC I'll never leave, lol. Anyway, thanks for telling me how to change it. I guess it is really no biggie, you're right, the other one is way faster, and I do have a link to Kate's in my cheetsheet subpage, so no big deal. ~*Grin*~ Ariel♥Gold 21:40, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
- I think some of the bots on the toolserver can be run locally (i.e., from the bot owner's computer) in the case that it malfunctions, but some IRC bots (such as MiszaBot, which runs from only the toolserver) have been broken for some time now. Yes, the wannabe_kate tool is run from the toolserver. And no, I don't mind at all if you ask your questions here. —Animum (talk) 21:54, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi Animum, I'm new to the wikipedia world and I'd like to write about a company in San Francisco that does some really cool work in employee engagement. My original page was deleted for not being "notable", though I hardly had enough time to site secondary sources etc. What do you recommend I do to make the material more suited for the wikipedia community? The Rights of Man
I deleted the United States Declaration from Thomas Paine's The Rights of Man, under the Conception section. The Declaration was written 15 years prior and Paine's Rights of Man did not influence it, nor did the Declaration directly influence Rights of Man. It was mostly Locke's Second Treatise. Taishaku
Sandbox Reset JS
Hi Animum, I was just wondering if there was a way to make it so that your Sandbox Reset Script would automatically uncheck the watch this page button like how it checks the minor edit button.--Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions) 01:51, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Conchita Espinosa
I was wondering if you'd consider withdrawing your nomination at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Conchita Espinosa. It appears additional sources were found and I've done some rewriting on the article. The AfD seems destined for a keep, and withdrawing the nomination would allow it to be closed early. Thanks for your consideration & Merry Christmas! --Ssbohio (talk) 04:18, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
Invader Zim
I believe your move of the article Invader Zim to Invader ZIM completely goes against what this naming convention says (especially since this article is specifically mentioned on this section as the article title being moved to Invader Zim.) All I see is editors on the talk page saying to ignore our core guidelines, not consensus as you stated. — Save_Us_229 22:19, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- I've moved the article back to Zim since I wasn't aware that the guideline did not encourage exceptions. Regards, —Animum (talk) 00:50, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
Your edit to my userpage
Thanks for your edit to my userpage. I was trying to get the indentation in the new section to line up with that of the old one, but didn't succeed and finally gave up, so I appreciate your attention to the matter. I see, though, that your edit changed the text portions of the top two sections from left-justified to centered. Was that intentional, and do you think it looks better that way? I'll trust your judgment on this crucial issue. Regards, Newyorkbrad (talk) 00:06, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Copy editing request
Dear Animum,
I recently requested a copy edit from the League of Copy Editors and noticed that your name is included on the list of members. At this writing, Jimmy McAleer, a B-class biography of an old-time American baseball figure, is in the peer review process. So far, all reviewers have suggested that the article is ready to send to the GAC. A couple of them recommended that I send it straight to the FAC. Before considering the latter, I would like to ensure that the article is as clean as possible. I'd greatly appreciate any time you're able to devote to it. A warm welcome
Thaaaaaaaaaanks for your welcoming words but I arrived here in 2005. It was only recently that I decided to do more frequent/regular/daily edits when I decided that de.wikipedia is nothing but a pile of shit. (Oops, sorry for using such bad language, but it's true) I still like the "wiki-philosophy" nevertheless so I set up my new and permanent home at a wiki-place I had explored before. Oh, and by the way, in Europe we're taught (at school as well as at our universities) that the Americans also belong to the Anglo-Saxon "tribe". All native speakers of English are labelled Anglo-Saxon. Incredible, isn't it?? ;-) --Fromgermany (talk) 21:25, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

CHris Stokes Page
You reported my changing the chris stokes page as vandalism, Obviously you didn't read what i changed the page started with die faggot die and then made numerous allegations of pedophilia against the subject. Could you at least read the stuff before you confirm what the bot turned up. I can't understand how to report it as a false positive. But it kind of pisses me off that my talk page has this report and all i was trying to do was the right thing. I have only made a few changes ever on wikipedia and always when it is a blatant error. Help me out. I did not vandalize the page. You reverted the page back to serious vandalism along with libelous claims.

What is this about? I've been on Wikipedia for a long time and have never had a problem. Over that time, I've been a major advocate of Wiki policies and often police for vandalism, original research and other inappropriate material. I haven't created that many articles and none of them have been controversial or had suspect notability. Please explain what this is about. Thanks. ask123 (talk) 20:25, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

RfA thanks
Dear Animum/Archives/2007, here is a little note to say thank you for your kind support on my request for adminship which succeeded with a final result of (72/19/6).
Now that I am a sysop, do not hesitate to contact me with any queries you have. I would be glad to help you along with the other group of kind and helpful administrators.
Thank you again and I look forward to editing alongside you in the future. — E talk 12:24, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
Christian Conventions
I would appreciate you having a look again at this page. In particular here. Talk:Christian_Conventions#External_Links
The user (trv6983) has an axe to grind against the church (I am a member). He's convinced we are a cult, and is trying to re-edit the page to this effect. I have simply used a strategy of removing his edits as they reference self-published material by himself and others. He has also also recently added pages which slander living persons. At least he is talking on the Discussion page.
But in a word, the guy is being silly. In this section you will see how he is making up his own 'wiki' policies. I don't know if I should request he be blocked, but I'm not going to continue being able to manage this guy by myself. I think there may be an intelligence or other issue since I don't think we're really engaging one another in conversation. I really just want someone to back me up at this point. (Or, if I am wrong and I'm pretty sure I'm not, let me know). Slofstra (talk) 06:26, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
About the O RLY Owl thread
Well, I may not be the best at writing constructive passages when I'm under the heavy stress of school work, but what I am good at is noticing when things are necessary for updates. I learned recently of that fact and I figured I would spread the word and update the page since it is such crucial information on the topic.
I would be pleased to find that information in some way to be contributed so that viewers could know that such a well known internet icon is dead. I was upset that I did not know about it at first. Thank you in advance if this can be done.

- Hey, SolidShakes! I actually wasn't aware there was a such thing as an O RLY? owl, so as soon as you find a source verifying the owl has died, feel absolutely free to reinsert the material with the reference added. Best regards, —Animum (talk) 02:50, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Heya
Ye im the guy who vandalised the recent additions thing, but i did it deliberately to see how quickly recent changes patrollers reverted unconstructive edits to the site. Great speed, anyway thanks, I wont do it again, just good to know that you guys are swift. Sorry, though --Hadseys (talk • contribs) 03:54, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, some of us RC patrollers are very speedy. I'm sure and glad that you won't do it again. Feel free to delete the warning from your talk page. Best regards, —Animum (talk) 03:57, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Re: deletion of 'Fake Identification'
Dear Animum,
I am writing to request clarification as to why you deleted my entry on 'Fake Identificaqtion'. It was tagged for speedy deletion by the user uzze indicating that it was a band, person, etc. I'd like to clarify that Fake Identification is not a band, it's an art and design duo that live in Los Angeles and are famous for the experimenatal publications they produce. I personally studied under one of the members of Fake Identification (professor Joshua Trees) at Art Center College of Design. What steps should I to republish my entry and to avoid deletion
Thanks

A request for your consideration regarding CAT:AOTR
Hello fellow Wikipedia administrators open to recall category member! |
---|
I am leaving you this message because recent events have given me concern. When Aaron Brenneman and I, and others, first developed this category well over a year ago, we visualized it as a simple idea. A low hassle, low bureaucracy process. We also visualized it as a process that people would come to trust, in fact as a way of increasing trust in those admins who chose to subscribe to the notion of recall. The very informal approach to who is qualified to recall, what happens during it, and the process in general were all part of that approach. But recent events have suggested that this low structure approach may not be entirely effective. More than one of the recent recalls we have seen have been marred by controversy around what was going to happen, and when. Worse, they were marred by some folk having the perception, rightly or wrongly, that the admin being recalled was trying to change the rules, avoid the process, or in other ways somehow go back on their word. This is bad. It's bad for you the admin, bad for the trust in the process, and bad for the community as a whole. I think a way to address this issue is to increase the predictability of the process in advance. I have tried to do that for myself. In my User:Lar/Accountability page, I have given pretty concrete definitions of the criteria for recall, and of the choices I can make, and of the process for the petition, and of the process for other choices I might make (the modified RfC or the RfAr). I think it would be very helpful if other admins who have voluntarily made themselves subject to recall went to similar detail. It is not necessary to adopt the exact same conditions, steps, criteria, etc. It's just helpful to have SOME. Those are mine, fashion yours as you see fit, I would not be so presumptuous as to say mine are right for you. In fact I urge you not to just adopt mine, as I do change them from time to time without notice, but instead develop your own. You are very welcome to start with mine if you so wish, though. If you decide to use mine (or someone else's) I suggest you give a history link to a specific version like Cacharoth did. But do something. If you have not already, I urge you to make your process more concrete, now, while there is no pressure and you can think clearly about what you want. Do it now rather than later, during a recall when folk may not react well to perceived changes in process or commitment. Further, I suggest that after you document your process, that you give a reference to it for the benefit of other admins who may want to see what others have done. List it in this table as a resource for the benefit of all. Do you have to do these things? Not at all. These are suggestions from me, and me alone, and are entirely up to you to embrace or ignore. I just think that doing this now, thinking now, documenting now, will save you trouble later, if you should for whatever reason happen to be recalled. I apologise if this message seems impersonal, but with over 130 members in the category, leaving a personal message for each of you might not have been feasible, and I feel this is important enough to violate social norms a bit. I hope that's OK. Thanks for your time and consideration, and best wishes. Larry Pieniazek NOTE: You are receiving this message because you are listed in the Wikipedia administrators open to recall category. This is a voluntary category, and you should not be in it if you do not want to be. If you did not list yourself, you may want to review the change records to determine who added you, and ask them why they added you. |

Sandbox reset
Good evening: I was wondering how your sandbox reset script was created. This may sound weird but I'm very interestd in learning JS C HTML and other coding languages. So far I know little HTML...So I was just wondering if you could tell me how you made it. Thank you! --GalaxyGuy (talk) 00:43, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
