[edit] Quinn Group

Hi, welcome to Wikipedia. But could you stop removing the tags on the article? It currently reads like a company brochure. Have a read at WP:NPOV. Thanks. Stu ’Bout ye! 19:18, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Apologises im new to Wikipedia, still getting to grips with it all. With regards to this piece on the Quinn Group, i have tried to edit the article a few times now attempting to make it more from a neutral point of view, any piece i have written on a particualr product i have referenced to another source. Could you please give a further explanation of whats wrong with the article and read the link in your last post. You help would be much appreciated! (ANIXON10 08:23, 13 September 2007 (UTC))

Hi, it is mainly the language used in the article. Examples are "it has ventured into", "Includes some impressive hotel and business centres", "rigorous quality control procedures ensure that consistent standards of quality are maintained", "Giving significant benefits in terms of heat insulation", "management of premium quality commercial real-estate", "make the Leonardo a unique business facility", "an existing prestigious district of the city" and "offering highest standard shopping mall services". Wording like this sounds like it was written for a company brochure. I have to ask, as we have a policy on conflict of interest, do you work for Quinn?
Also, some of the sources used aren't compliant with Wikipedia:Reliable sources. Some seem to be commercial websites offering the products/services you are talking about in the article. Hope this helps. Stu ’Bout ye! 09:22, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
And one more thing, I think it is best if we redirect the Quinn Plastics‎, Quinn Glass‎, Quinn Direct‎ and Quinn Radiators articles to the main Quinn Group article. They contain little if any information that is not in the Quinn Group article, and probably fail WP:CORP on their own. Stu ’Bout ye! 09:27, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for responding so quickly, i will make all the necessary ammendments with regards to the wording and referenced websites. I have removed the the divisional website Quinn Radiators Quinn Glass already. I dont work for Quinn, although this is for college assignment, also live in Fermanagh area. (ANIXON10 09:52, 13 September 2007 (UTC))

No worries, do you know how to redirect the four pages to Quinn Group OK? Stu ’Bout ye! 11:10, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Not entirely sure, is it by adding them to categories and then linking the words 'QUINN Group' on the four pages with '[[..]]'? (ANIXON10 12:49, 13 September 2007 (UTC))

No, a redirect means that the pages basically disappears. And then if you were to search for it you would end up at the page that has been redirect to. For example, type Northern Irish people into the search box, click go and you will come to Northern Ireland, not Northern Irish people, which used to be a page but it was decided it would be better to take the contents of it, merge them to the main NI page and redirect to Northern Ireland. If you read WP:Redirect you'll see what I mean. Alternativelty, if you want to make sure that everything contained in the four articles (Glass, Plastics, Direct and Radiators) is included in the main Quinn Group article then I'll redirect them for you.
By the way, if it would be useful for your assignment to keep the four other articles seperately, you can userfy them. Which basically means they would sit in your userspace, rather than the main Wikipedia article space. For example if we redirect the Quinn Plastics‎ to Quinn Group before the redirect we could copy the contents to User:ANIXON10/Quinn Plastics‎, and the same with the other three. Let me know what you want to do. Stu ’Bout ye! 14:02, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

It would probably be better if i included all the information the four articles (Glass, Plastics, Direct and Radiators)in the one piece (Quinn Group) and people are redirected to Quinn Group with all the information. How do i go about doing the redirect or is that yourself that does that? Sorry one more thing do you think the article is okay now, ive taken alot of info out to make it neutral. (ANIXON10 14:25, 13 September 2007 (UTC))

No, you can redirect pages too, anyone can. (I'm just a normal Wikipedian like yourself!) The instructions are at WP:Redirect, but I'll do it later if you want. Haven't time to read the article now, so I'll do that later as well. Stu ’Bout ye! 14:40, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
