PITCHESWARA RAO ATLURI
Choutapally is a small village in Krishna District, a province of Andhra Pradesh, in India. A P Rao was born here on April 12th in the year 1925.
Later his family migrated to the nearby village 'Pulaparru'.
He studied in Choutapally village and Kaikaluru schools. He stood first in the Hindi 'VISHARADA' exams. He completed his Inter in the then 'Bunder' (Machilipatnam) College. He joined the Indian Navy after completing his studies in 1945. In 1948 he passed out with flying colours in B R W, K C G exams.
He resigned from the Indian Navy in 1953.
Later he was with a daily news paper in Telugu "Vishalandhra' for sometime. In 1962, he moved into Madras, the present (Chennai) and settled down as a Film Script-Writer. He became famous.
He translated famous workd of literature from the Hindi language into Telugu-Godaan, Prathidwani, Pekamukkalu, and Gaadida Athma Kadha.
Apart from them he had written plenty of stories, radio plays, sketches etc.
"Manasulo Manishi' is an exceptional work of his.
'Gowthama Budha', 'Veeresalingam' documentary scripts show to the world his unparalleled talents as a writer. The scripts for these documentaries are considered to be rare works of art in Telugu language.
He was a booklover right from his childhood. He bought almost every book he laid his eyes upon. He had collected more 2000 English books and a few thousands more of Telugu books.
An outstanding writer in Telugu language.
A writer with a very strong character, endowed with radical thoughts and pioneering spirit.
He is an independent writer.
At a time when he was blossoming out to be a great film scriptwriter he passed away on 26th September 1966 with a heart attack.
