Talk:Anita Roddick

Ironic that she should sell the body shop to L' Not that I mins- i hate products that havent been animal tested: however i do like fair-trade and sustainable growth
- You hate products that haven't been animal tested? It's becoming somewhat rare for cosmetics these days; Europe is banning it, for instance (for cosmetics only) Rsynnott 01:04, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Death
It is Wikipedia policy to include the death of a subject only when there are reliable sources that can be referenced. Please adhere to this policy. It shouldn't be hard to find a source as she is a well-known person. ... discospinster talk 19:59, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- There was quite an edit frenzy going on last night, with loads of revisions to the death information, including adding sources. At the time the death info wad removed, it would have been easy to check and add a source instead of removing the info. Mayalld 06:58, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

If only it was just a rumour! She was a good person and will be sadly missed. -- Derek Ross | Talk 23:58, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
She was? I've heard just the opposite. Gerry Ryan just described her as "just about the rudest person I've ever met." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.243.9.242 (talk) 20:00, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Why doesn't the Wikipedia entry for Anita Roddick include the comments that she made some years ago bagging much of the product line at The Body Shop? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.172.11.21 (talk) 10:10, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Pic
"Free image" doesn't mean "found it on the web", I'm afraid. See WP:NONFREE - David Gerard 22:37, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Family background
I understand that she had one brother and two half-sibs, and that she found out that her real father was Henry when she was age 19. I understand that her mother was married twice. This was featured in a BBC interview of Anita Roddick in the year 2000 with Vanessa Phelps - repeated :3 October 2007 on BBC2. I guess that this BBC interview is probably a reliable reference, so the "family background" section may need rewriting. Snowman 18:19, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
- The Times obituary, corroborates this. I have made some amendments. Snowman 11:53, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:OW5 Poster.jpg
Image:OW5 Poster.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Not Jewish?
The first mention of a Jewish background on Wikipedia seems to be this edit at 10:26, on September 11, the day after she died which references this site which seems to be a site where anyone can upload a biography of someone who has died- the site provides no reference for the Jewish background. That reference was replaced with a reference from The Times at 16:05 on the same day here. So did the Times merely get the (possibly unreliable) Jewish information on that day from Wikipedia? The Times says that Anita's real father was not her legal father, and was in fact his cousin Henry. Jason Gray (Anita's nephew) says on his blog that he knows of no Jewish background but that his grandmother Gilda later had a boyfriend called Louis after Henry(?) died who he thinks might have been Jewish which perhaps is where the confusion arose? (discussion also here). Gustav von Humpelschmumpel (talk) 12:02, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
