[edit] Rewrite

There's enough extant information to do a somewhat decent rewrite of this to establish notability, but I'm too busy right now. So I hope somebody is willing to do it.

Some points:

- AA was founded and sponsored by F.A.C.E., which was in turn run by Greg Scanlan et all, up until around 1996.
- It was heavily sponsored by VIZ (which kinda pissed people off).
- It was part of the split that occurred after AnimeCon went defunct.
- AA '97 was officially canceled on or about March 22, 1997.
- There is a lot of ridiculous flamewar information about AA vs. AX on USENET from this time period. It was dubbed the "Con Wars".
- Mike T. makes mention of it in print on the AX 2001 program booklett.
- Along those lines, AA was the Northern California con, while AX was (and is) the Southern California con (gang war anyone?)
- Fanime is kinda the spiritual successor of AA. Many AA staffers went on to do Fanime.
- On the whole, AA was always smaller than AX.

In any event, do the research. It's not that hard to find info on AA. Kensuke Aida 04:43, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
