[edit] Formalized language and removed tone template
I attempted to formalize the tone of the article, remove some of the overly-generalized and unverified statements and make it sound a little more encyclopedic. I also removed the tone template tag, since the rewrite was pretty substantial. It probably could stand some more clean-up by someone with more knowledge of the subject than myself, but I think it's getting there. Dugwiki 17:41, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Move to "flash portal", or rewrite
The opening paragraph says: "An animation portal is a system where a user is able to submit his or her own animation in a .swf format to a website and have it immediately be displayed to other visitors."
As far as I know, that's the description of a Flash portal (which is what Newgrounds calls itself). A true animation portal, if we are to keep this name, would accept any one (or more) file format(s), not just .swf. Therefore, for example, StopMoShorts.com could be said to have an animation portal - they support many different file types, but not .swf.
For the record, I'm in favour of just changing the definition - it just makes more sense, since there's nothing about the .swf format that stands out especially. We could then specify that some websites focus on only the .swf format, and that these can be subcategorized as "flash portals". Esn 11:51, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
