Anitra Steen

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anitra Steen (born Anitra Bergström on May 13, 1949) is a Swedish civil servant. As of 2005 she is the manager of Systembolaget, the Swedish state alcohol retailing monopoly. In that role she has been forced to cope with a full blown corruption scandal, involving bribery of shop managers and senior staff by some major suppliers, including Vin & Sprit, formerly the producing and importing division of the Swedish state monopoly. Vin & Sprit is still owned by the Swedish state.

Steen was born in Fagersta, Västmanland, Sweden. She married Göran Persson, the then Prime Minister of Sweden, on December 6, 2003, but kept the surname Steen from her previous marriage. Because of her personal connection to the head of the Swedish government, her independence as a board member of Scandinavian Airlines, which is jointly owned by the Scandinavian governments, has been put in question by some.
