Anise Azeat (アニス・アジート Anisu Ajīto?) is a fictional character and one of the protagonists of the dating sim/ strategy game series Galaxy Angel. She debuts in Galaxy Angel II: Zettai Ryouiki no Tobira (2006), the first of the sequels to the original Galaxy Angel game trilogy.
A tomboyish self-proclaimed treasure hunter, she pilots the Emblem Frame Relic Raider.

[edit] Appearances
Prior to the release of the Galaxy Angel II game on 22 June 2006, Anise was among the new characters to be announced by Broccoli. Her voice was first heard on 2 cds released shortly before the game's release date. The first contained her image songs and a short message from Anise herself. The second was a duet cd with her employer/ creditor Mint Blancmanche which featured two duets, two question and answer sessions and a mini-drama.
She is the fourth of the new Angel Troupe to be introduced and was initially an enemy (who Forte and Tact used as target practice for new Rune Angel Troupe pilot Kazuya Shiranami). While she aids the crew of the Luxiole in their struggles from the second chapter onwards she does not officially join the group until after Lily C. Sherbet does much later.
Besides the game, she is also a major character of the ongoing Galaxy Angel II manga and in the currently airing Galaxy Angelrune- Galaxy Angel II, an anime based on GAII.
[edit] Characteristics
A proud and confident treasure hunter, despite her cute appearance Anise is very much a tomboy. She is the only member of any Angel Troupe to use a talking style normally associated with males. She uses the first person personal pronoun "Ore" and much of her language is rather rough, even compared to someone like Forte Stollen, a member of the Angel Troupe often singled out for her lack of (overt) feminine qualities.
Like many hotheaded characters from other anime (for example, the protagonists of Super Robot anime such as Kouji Kabuto), Anise is very blunt and honest. She is also physically the toughest of the Rune Angels, with a fighting ability comparable to that of martial artist Ranpha Franboise.
Besides her unusually masculine talking style, Anise is also known for her tendency to mispronounce words, especially names. On one occasion, she referred to Mint Blancmanche as Mint Butamanju (butamanju meaning porkbun). A less-than-amused Mint promptly increased the interest rate on the loan Anise took from the Blancmanche Conglomorate, prompting howls of protest from the irate pilot.
[edit] Personality
Anise is rough, loud-mouthed and impatient, traits more often found in shonen manga protagonists than in cute female characters. However, like her male counterparts she is very dedicated to her friends and incredibly strong-willed. She refuses to give up no matter how hopeless a situation seems.
Anise hates being called a space pirate, referring to herself as a treasure hunter (in a similar fashion to Locke from the game Final Fantasy VI.) Unluckily for her, most characters don't see a difference between the two.
As she has apparently been a treasure hunter for some time (and believed herself to be quite well-known), Anise possesses cunning and a knack for getting herself out of trouble. For example, she disguised herself as a merchant from Mint Blancmanche's Blancmanche Conglomerate and managed to sneak aboard the Luxiole in a successful attempt to steal the Brave Heart. She also adheres to the theory of "you can solve any problem if you hit it hard enough!"
Anise is very competitive, as seen by some of her interactions with Kazuya. On one occasion, what began as a friendly game of table tennis degenerated into a furious exchange that ended when Anise cleverly slowed her pace, throwing Kazuya off-balance. She is also quite fond of working out, as she can be found jogging in the Luxiole's space park or exercising in the training room.
She admires and respects Ranpha Franboise for her combination of beauty, skill and strength, calling her "Nee-san" (姉さん, pronounced "neigh-san") or Older sister. In addition, she extends that respect to Forte Stollen due to the latter's position as Ranpha's leader and so refers to her as "Anego" (姉御, a humble version of Nee-san). This method of addressing plays into her tough girl depiction, as these term are often found in programs and movies about Yakuza and other gangsters.
Similarly, Nano-Nano Pudding refers to her as "Oyabun" (親分, literally "Boss"), a title typically given to Yakuza officers by their subordinates. Nano-Nano is the only person who calls Anise this.
Anise and Kazuya are the same age, and bicker in a fashion not unlike famous anime couples like Ranma and Akane from Ranma 1/2 and Yusuke and Keiko from Yuyu Hakusho.
At one point of the game, Kazuya encounters Anise in the ship's cafeteria, where she is attempting to try Ranpha's infamous 1000-degree curry. When Kazuya notes that Ranpha would probably add chili sauce to an already-incredibly spicy meal (to the horror of ship's cook Ranti), an actual warning message appears onscreen stating, "PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!"
By the end of the game, it is implied that Anise is very, very heavily in debt to the Blancmanche Conglomorate. Most of this debt is incurred by Anise's tendency to wreck games and equipment, not knowing that Mint simply adds the cost of repairs to her bill.
[edit] Quotes
- Anise (upon seeing a restaurant): "Hey, is that one of those 'Eat whatever you can' places?"
-Kazuya : "Um, that's 'All you can eat', Anise..."
- Anise (after being complimented by Kazuya): "H-hey, don't be so cereal!"
-Kazuya: "I think you mean serious."
- (After Forte's rescue)
-Nano-Nano: "Oyabun's a space pirate!"
-Forte: "P-pirate?!"
-Anise: "Hey, Nano! I'm not a pirate, I'm a Treasure Hunter!"
-Lily: "I heard from the commander you were a pirate."
-Anise: "That Takuto!!"
