Anime St. Louis is an anime convention held in St. Louis, Missouri during the month of April. It started in 2006 as a response to the failed return of Kunicon, a traveling anime convention which was held in St. Louis for the first time the year prior to AnimeStL's creation.[citation needed]

[edit] History

Anime St.Louis was originally called Mini-con and was first held on the campus of Maryville University for one day. It was hosted by the Maryville Anime Club and Webster's Anime Society. Anime St.Louis then joined with ShowMeCon and was expanded to three days for the 2007 convention at the Maryville Mariot Hotel.

The 2008 convention was held at the Holiday Inn St.Louis-Southwest Viking Hotel. The theme was based on an inside joke and was called "Shinsegumi and waffles, only at Anime St. Louis". [1]
