Anihilated

Anihilated (sic) is a thrash metal band formed in the early 1980s from the remnants of punk band Prospex. The line up was Andy, Simon “Si” Cobb on guitar and vocals, Lee Hittman on bass, and Paul “Bod” Rodwell on Drums. They recorded their first Demo, a crossover punk/metal track in 1985, however, they parted with singer Andy, part way through the recording. Si took over vocal duties, and they added another guitarist Mark Beuchet who, when playing with Punk band Poison, had done some gigs with Anihilated.

By 1986 they had refined their sound into the 12" EP called Path To Destruction a raw punk/metal crossover, released on their own Brew Records label. The 12" has recently been re-released as a CD in Japan on the "In Crust We Thrash" label. 1988 saw the band sign to Endangered Musik and further refine their sound for the Created In Hate LP. This was described at the time as The most important UK thrash release to date by Metal Forces. Poor production detracted from the sound of the album, however, it led to a five album deal with UK label Metalworks.

The only release to come from this deal was the 1989 LP The Ultimate Desecration. However there was a delay on the album reaching the shops, and while the album was advertised and received some favourable reviews no one could get it. The impotus had been lost, and although the album was selling reasonably well, Metalworks severed all communication with the band. In 1990 Mark left the band to concentrate on other projects, and Lee left soon thereafter, giving up music completely, getting married and becoming a postman. Although both were replaced, and work had started on their third album Carnival of Souls, the band folded.

Si went on to form Nightbreed with Robin Graves, who later joined Cradle of Filth. He now plays in Trident with Condemned 84 guitarist Damon. Bod spent some time playing for Kerbslider who have since disbanded. Mark played for some time in Love Lies Bleeding.

As of 2008 the band have been offered a five year deal for older recordings and any new material which the band may record. They are thinking of going on the road again, with Si taking over bass guitar, and continuing vocals, and drafting in a new guitarist.
