Anhialo

Anhialo (Greek: ΑΝΧΙΑΛΟΣ) is the ancient town, situated at today's city Pomorie. In the ancient city was located between the Greek colonies Apollonia Pontica and Crown Pontica. According to one of the versions of its occurrence, Anhialo was established in the late V century etc. n. e. Having emporiya of Apollo.

Is located on a narrow rocky peninsula in Burgas Bay on the southern Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. It is located in Burgas Province 20 km from Burgas and 18 km from Sunny Beach. The ultrasaline lagoon Lake Pomorie, the northernmost of the Burgas Lakes, lies in the immediate proximity.

Another version is based on the text of Pliny the Elder, which informs us about the city Mesa existed at the same spot before the arrival of Greek kolonists. Both versions are under discussion.
