Dr. Angela Summers is president of SIS-TECH, specializing in the design and management of instrumented protective systems. Dr. Summers is a US representative to the international IEC 61511 committee, is chair of the TR84.02 and TR84.04 committees, and has recently completed a book on instrumented protective systems for the Center for Chemical Process Safety. She has written more than 50 papers and authored chapters for engineering handbooks on the subject of SIS.

Dr. Summers is a 2007 inductee in the Process Automation Hall of Fame and received the 2005 ISA Albert F. Sperry Award for her outstanding contributions and leadership in the specification, development, and implementation of safety instrumented systems for the process automation industry.

Dr. Summers received her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alabama, Master of Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Clemson University and Bachelor of Science, Chemical Engineering, Mississippi State University. She is a licensed professional engineer in Texas.
