[edit] Very Poor Article ! Many Factual errors!

I really do wonder who is coming with the phrases which assert that the names of Turkish cities were something else before 1930. Angora is an ancient name for Ankara but it wasn't in use for quite a while before 1930. Same goes with Constantinople and Istanbul. Constantinople was the name used only by westerners, it was not in use by Turks at anytime. And although some Turkish governments changed some place names for political reasons, that was not the case for any of the major cities like, Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Bursa...
And also how people came up with phrases like :
Angora is a vilayet-> No it is not, Ankara is a vilayet!
Vilayet is city in Ottoman-> No, there is no language called Ottoman, it is Turkish and vilayet means province, not city!
Kayseri and Kirsehir are two centers in the vilayet of Angora->No, they are two provinces (and capital cities of these provinces with the same names) different from Ankara!
The only industry in the province is weaving-> Oh come on! Ankara is the capital city, it has 4 million people and some more industry than that!

is beyond me. Did someone copied this down from a 19th or 18th century travel notes?? Wikipedia would have been better without this article.

[edit] Edits to disambiguation page on Mar 18, 2008

I had been surfing the disambiguation pages in need of clean-up and decided to edit this page, but I forgot to tag it as "in use" and User 129.21.105.77 managed to save their edits before I could. I have since changed their edits to my own. Here are my reasons:

  • Changed ref to Ankara, since Angora is more than simply an "alternative spelling." (I also added the historic info to the Ankara page)
  • I moved Angora wool to the top since I would argue that, at least in the English-speaking world, Angora is more commonly used to refer to the fabric. (I for one had never heard of Ankara referred to as Angora...)
  • Removed links to Angora Fire and Angora Lakes since logically a person searching for these two topics would not simply type "Angora" in their search.
    • As per Wikipedia:MOSDAB: Dab pages are non-article pages and are solely intended to allow users to choose among several Wikipedia articles, usually when a user searches for an ambiguous term* Created stub page Tygodnik Angora and re-added link to it on this dab page.
  • Finally, given the removed links and the new link for Tygodnik Angora which would have sat on it's own and been the only uncatogorisable (is that a word?) link, I decided to forgo headings all together

Looks good to me ... better than my clean if I'm honest ... just tweaked a little by adding back lakes and fire just in case. Abtract (talk) 18:58, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
