Assessment comments
The following comments were left by the assessors: (edit · refresh) The Homilies summarize and develop Reformed theology at the beginning of the Protestant Reformation. As such they are and excellent record, a primary source, contemporary to John Calvin and the other leading Reformers. Indeed, Thomas Cranmer and other contributors carried on correspondence with Geneva, a formative influence apparent in the Homilies. The Homilies have further importance in that, being read in churches throughout England, they would have been familiar to and and in influence on Anglicans, Presbyterians, English Baptists, and Puritans and thus are of critical importance not only to these denominations, but also to the larger Evangelical movement of the United States and the Anglo-Saxon world.
