In Hindu periode and Padjajaran kingdoom era, sunda people use this angklung to sign time for pray. Later,Padjajaran kingdoom use this instrument in corps musik when Bubat war(perang bubat).

Angklung function as pumping the people spirit still feel until colonial era (hindia belanda, voc) . For that cause in Hindia belanda era (colonial times), the hindia belanda goverment have ever to forbid people playing this angklung instrument.

So cause the forbid to play angklung the popularity go down and only played by children during that era.[kompas, 9 november 2007, page 14 colom 7).Daimond 12:10, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
