Anguimorphs of the infraorder Anguimorpha include alligator lizards, galliwasps, legless lizards, knobby lizards, monitor lizards, and mosasaurs, as well as the Gila Monster and Mexican Bearded Lizard. The infraorder was named by Fürbringer in 1900 to include all autarchoglossans closer to Varanus and Anguis than Scincus.
