Together with SMJK Nan Hwa, it consistently ranks among the top school in the district, producing numerous successful students who continued to pursue education in other parts of the world.

Founded in 1903 by Rev. B.F. Van Dyke as an orphanage, it soon expended into a full fledged school by a succession of missionaries principles. The name Anglo Chinese School was bestowed upon the school by Rev W.E. Horley in 1916, thus changing the name from the previous Industrial School Sitiawan.

Many of the building presently on school ground were built prior to World War II. During the Japanese Occupation, the school was used to teach the Japanese Language.
