Anglo Americans

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anglo Americans are U.S. citizens of white ethnicity. Although Anglo means “English”, they do not only include English Americans and other British Americans, but also other white American ancestors who were Anglicized during British times or Americanized in the period of the establishment of United States government, like German Americans, Swedish Americans, French Americans, and Italian Americans. Anglo Americans are sometimes called non-Hispanic whites. Spanish Americans may be included in the group since they mostly identify themselves with Anglo community and NOT Hispanic Latin American community, so the term non-Hispanic white may not be applied to Anglo Americans if assimilated Spanish Americans are to be included.
