The Anglican Diocese of Tasmania principally consists of the island state of Tasmania in Australia and is an extra-provincial diocese of the Anglican Church of Australia. The cathedral church of the diocese is St David's Cathedral in Hobart. The current Bishop of Tasmania, ordained as bishop and also installed on 25 July 2000, is the Right Reverend John Harrower.
The Diocese of Tasmania is the oldest diocese in Australia and has a history of over 200 years. The Reverend Robert Knopwood was part of the mission to colonise Tasmania in 1803 and was responsible for establishing Anglicanism in the colony upon settlement.
