Angermünde (IPA[aŋɐˈmʏndə]) is a town in Germany, in the state of Brandenburg, on the Mündesee, 43 miles from Berlin by the Berlin-Szczecin railway, and at the junction of lines to Prenzlau, Bad Freienwalde and Schwedt. The population is about 10,000 but has been rapidly falling for years. An administrative sub-centre of its district, it has several Protestant churches, a number of schools of higher learning, and a historic and recently refurbished market place with an old town hall. Its main industry is enamel working, which is however declining in significance. Located in the game-filled forests of the Uckermark with its many lakes, it now relies heavily on tourism and the sources of revenue linked to it.
