Angelica Domröse

Angelica Domröse (Born April 4 1941 in Berlin) is a German actress, who became famous by the role of Paula in Heiner Carows's film The Legend of Paul and Paula.

Domröse worked after training as a shorthand-typist in a national foreign trade enterprise of East Germany. In 1958 she was discovered by the director Slatan Dudow and visited in 1961 at the film university Potsdam-Babelsberg. Until it she was with the citizen of Berlin ensemble engaged 1966, where it played among other things in Brechts "Dreigroschenoper", "Schwejk im zweiten Weltkrieg" and "Die Tage der Commune" as well as Helmut Baierls's "Frau Flinz". Afterwards it was engaged until 1979 with the people stage Berlin. Here it played in pieces of George Bernard Shaw, William Shakespeare and Peter Hacks. Besides it worked for Deutsche Film-Aktiengesellschaft and Deutscher Fernsehfunk. In 1971, 1973 and 1975 she became the television actress of the year, and in 1976 she won the National Prize of East Germany. 1980 she left the GDR and moved to West Germany.
