[edit] History
[edit] Signing to Boomtown
Following their formation in 2004, Angelas Dish were quick to find a label, only one year later they signed to Boomtown Records for the release of their debut EP, Lie Die. The EP received a positive reception and led to a follow up in 2006 entitled My Body Is An Ashtray. During the release and promotion of these two EPs, the band toured with better known Australian bands, such as Gyroscope, Something With Numbers, After the Fall, Kisschasy and The Butterfly Effect. As well as supporting popular international acts such as Jimmy Eat World, 30 Seconds to Mars, Anberlin and Copeland. On top of this, Angelas Dish managed to squeeze in four headline tours, all in their four year existence.[2]
[edit] Moving to BNM
After the release of My Body Is An Ashtray, Angelas Dish made the decision to move from Boomtown Records to BNM Records, along with Sony BMG distribution, to record their first full-length studio album. On October 27, 2007, Angelas Dish released an EP titled Soft November, which featured the lead single off their upcoming album, "Soft November". The EP featured two other songs "Wear What You Wear" and "The Blind Girl", as well as the music video for the title track and behind the scenes footage of the music video.[3] The "Soft November" video clip was directed by Tim Stobart, who has formerly worked with INXS, and was produced by iCandy Productions. The use of "groundbreaking" technology gave Angelas Dish the edge for their first video clip, which "features a secret underwater location using world first high definition technology".[2] The video also featured a cameo appearance by dwarfed belly dancer Rima,[4] who later found her 15 minutes of fame on Big Brother Australia 2008, after breaking her leg[5] and having pornographic photos revealed of her outside of the Big Brother house.[6]
[edit] War On Time
In 2007, the band geared up for the recording and producing of their first studio album. It was recorded in Malt and Mangrove Studios on their local Central Coast of NSW, with ARIA ‘Producer of the Year’ David Nicholas, along side American producer Mark Needham, who has been attributed to The Killers, Thirsty Merc and My Chemical Romance.[2]
On March 8, 2008 the band released their debut album War On Time and have since been promoting the release with multiple tours, including one alongside Australian bands The Hot Lies and Calling All Cars. Where they played new and old songs, including War On Time songs "Yeah… But Not Tonight" and "Soft November" as well as older songs "On a Sign", "When I'm Gone" and "Wear What You Wear".[7]
