Angela Catterns (c. 1955 [1]) is an Australian television and radio personality.

Catterns began her radio career at Lismore's local station 2LM, followed by several years in Orange working at CBN8 TV.

She then returned to her native Sydney after working as a sound recordist on a documentary shot in Papua New Guinea.

In 1979 she joined the team that started up the highly popular kids' TV show, Simon Townsend's Wonder World, as a reporter.

In the mid-80s Catterns joined the ABC youth network, Triple J, as producer and then presenter of its morning show, before moving to commercial radio to present mornings on 2SM.

After that came a position at SBS as a researcher and producer, then a stint overseas, fulfilling a long-held ambition to work in American radio, where she landed an on-air shift at the top-rating station WKYS in Washington, D.C..

Returning to Sydney in 1990, Catterns rejoined the ABC as presenter of Triple J's morning show when it began broadcasting nationally. She later hosted the network's drive program before making the move to ABC Local Radio, presenting the evening program across Australia (from the Lismore ABC Studios).

During the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, she was the 'voice of the Olympics' ... responsible for all the public domain announcements.[citation needed] She was also venue announcer for the Olympic Gymnastics competition.[citation needed] Angela also is the voice heard on domestic and international Qantas flights providing the safety announcements in the pre-flight procedures.[2]

After a brief period working at online radio station Big Fat Radio, she returned to the ABC as 702 ABC Sydney's breakfast presenter, and in the December 2004 survey became the #1 Sydney breakfast presenter, overtaking Alan Jones. Catterns resigned from ABC 702 in June 2005 after more than four years presenting breakfast radio. Two months later she joined Sydney's FM station Vega 95.3 as the breakfast presenter.

In October 2007 Catterns announced that she was leaving Vega 95.3;[3] she stayed with Vega until the end of the ratings period November 24.[4]

Angela Catterns is the daughter of the late Basil Catterns.
