Angela is a female given name. It is derived from the Greek word ángelos (αγγελος), meaning "messenger". In the United States, the name "Angela" peaked in popularity during the mid-1970s. Also it meant very pretty or cute in the states. It was the fifth most popular name for girls born between 1974 and 1976 [1].

Angela can also have many short names (for example Angie, Angel, Angelina, Angeline, Angelika, Angelita)
