[edit] Angel Wars - Guardian Force

Angel Wars is an animated action adventure series from TeleStoryTOONS and EMI CMG and more recently Twentieth Century Fox. Since its introduction in late 2004, the popular series has distinguished itself by presenting Christian based storylines through 3d animation provided by the LA based Backyard Digital Studios, engaging viewers with inspiring characters and imaginative stories in the strong Judeo-Christian tradition of J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis. [1]

Officially called "Angel Wars Guardian Force", this CGI movie series is a basic underline of good versus evil. The movie is intended for a 6 and over viewing range. Being Christian based, the protagonists are angels from the Bible or names with positive meaning.

The series is a departure from the traditional version of angels such as envisioned by Gustave Dore, the almost mech armoured clad angels in this series are a more futuristic with fantastical chariot vehicles and glowing weapony. [2]

The Guardian Force, headed by the biblical archangel Michael, are briefed by the unseen Maker, aboard an airship called The Seven. They depart by spreading their wings and flying down to Earth where they battle demonic fallen angels that seek to corrupt humanity. The student angels (Anawim) use wingboards until they earn their wings. The angels and the evil demons (Morg) are invisible to the human eye as they existing on a spiritual plane, unless they take form of a human. The angels can however affect the physical world in order to miraculously save humans from danger. [3]

Chris Waters, Sydney, Australia, grew up in a split Christian household. Chris (6), his sister (4) and both parents left Australia to Los Angeles. After four years in the States, Chris' father moved back to Australia. Several years later his mother remarried and the family settled in Southern California.

Chris got married and had children. The Waters family then moved to Virginia Beach so Chris could attend Regent University. While working on his Master's Degree, 9/11/01 Chris developed Angel Wars.

“I realized there was a whole generation of kids who didn’t
understand salvation and who didn’t know salvation was available
to them. They need to know they can participate in the real battle
– the spiritual battle we face every day, without having to
walk in fear.” - Chris Waters

For the series visual style, Chris mentioned that he and his partners are Backyard Entertainment were inspired by the stylization techniques in comic books and Japanese animation. C. S. Lewis' "The Screwtape Letters also served as an inspiration for the depiction of demons in the series. [4]
