Angel Parrish (née Brooks) was a fictional character in the Australian soap opera Home and Away, played by Melissa George.

[edit] Character

Angel arrived in the Summer Bay in late 1993, and got off to a bad start by selling Shane Parrish fake concert tickets for pop band Frente!.

It was revealed Angel had been living on rough and collapsed due to an infection and was hospitalised. Damien Roberts, Shane's friend visited her in hospital and took pity on her.

Damien suggested to his foster mother, Pippa Ross to take Angel in. Pippa and her husband Michael didn't have the room but persuaded local headmaster Donald Fisher to give Angel a room instead even though Shane was also living there with his brother, Nick.

Shane and Angel constantly fought, but there was undeniable chemistry between the two. Eventually the two admitted their true feelings and fell in love. They tried to keep the relationship a secret from Donald by masking it with their previous hostility. This failed as Donald came in and caught them kissing.

Angel's past was shrouded in mystery until one day, while on work experience at the police station where Nick worked, Shane looked through Angel's file and discovered that she'd had a son at 14. Shane and Angel argued and publicly broke up.

Nick persuaded Shane to talk to Angel about her past and she told him her mother had thrown her out when she was pregnant and being homeless, she had no choice but to surrender custody to the father of her child Paul Harris, and his mother.

Angel, after much persuasion from Shane, went to track down her son, Dylan. Paul's mother, Anna wasn't very welcoming towards her and Dylan took a while to get used to Angel being his mother.

Shane and Angel later became engaged, but plans were put on hold when Angel was accidentally run over by Alf Stewart while crossing the road. Angel, determined as ever still wanted the wedding to go ahead and in March 1995, she, with the help of Donald walked down the Ailse to Shane and the two were married.

Not long after they married, Shane and Angel were met with their first test in the marriage; Shannon Reed, who had been babysitting Dylan attempted to seduce Shane. Angel caught the two of the kissing believed Shane had cheated and decided to take Dylan and leave the bay via Seaplane. The plane crashed and Angel, Dylan and schoolteacher, Teresa Lynch were lost for several days, but eventually were found. Shane and Angel were reunited.

Futher problem came along when Dylan had fallen ill will Leukemia and needed a bone marrow transplant. Angel contemplated having a second child with Paul, but found herself pregnant with Shane's baby.

The future looked bright until one day, while on a picnic to celebrate their first anniversary as a married couple, Shane died of Septicaemea, following a splenectomy he had after being knocked off his motorbike several months earlier.

Angel spent a long while greiving, but found support in Pippa who had lost her husband Tom several years previous.

Angel eventually gave birth to the baby at Pippa's during a massive flood which cut off the roads to the hospital. She gave birth to a daughter, who she named after Shane.

On 30 August 1996 (Home and Away's 2000th episode), Angel, Dylan and baby Shane left Summer Bay for England along with Angel's new love, Simon Broadhurst.
