[edit] Appearances

[edit] Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror

Angel was introduced in Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror. She was about twelve feet in length. She was the only survivor of a brood of three. One of her siblings was killed by orcas and the other was killed by their mother. She was captured and placed in the Tanaka Oceanographic Institute's whale lagoon for study and exhibition.

[edit] The Trench

In The Trench, Angel was about seventy feet in length and weighed sixty thousand pounds. She escaped the Tanaka lagoon and followed the ring of fire along the California coast up through Canada and Alaska and back to the Mariana Trench. During the course of the Trench, Angel was in estrus, fueling her extra aggressive behavior. She gained a scar on her dorsal fin, caused by the rotating blades of a helicopter. The Trench also signals the first time Angel became pregnant and gave birth. Her brood included two males. We can only assume that the two males in Meg: Primal Waters are the same animals.

[edit] Meg: Primal Waters

In Meg: Primal Waters, Angel was seventy-two feet in length and weighed about seventy thousand pounds. The urge to breed brought her back to California from the Mariana Trench where she and a male megalodon were trapped inside the Tanaka lagoon. After mating, she killed the male. Her offspring are planned to be featured in Meg: Hell's Aquarium.
